Dubai International Airport to Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim

Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim are the long, low-rise beach neighbourhoods between Dubai's old centre and the Burj Al Arab, where most trips from the airport end at a villa gate or a beach hotel rather than a tower.

One district, a long coastline

Jumeirah 1 starts near the Jumeirah Mosque and the old city; Umm Suqeim 3 ends at the Burj Al Arab and Madinat Jumeirah, more than ten kilometres along the coast. From the airport, the north end is often fifteen to twenty minutes away and the south end closer to forty. The chauffeur picks Al Wasl Road, Jumeirah Beach Road or Sheikh Zayed Road depending on where you are going and the traffic at the time.

Villas, beaches and hotels

Much of Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim is villas on numbered streets, with addresses given as a street and villa number. A pin on your gate saves the chauffeur hunting for the right lane. La Mer and Kite Beach have their own drop-off areas, and the beach hotels at the southern end, Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the Madinat Jumeirah resorts, each have their own entrance road.

Leaving for the airport

From the Umm Suqeim end, the motorway is the quicker way back; from Jumeirah 1, the drive through Satwa and over the creek is short. Either way, school-run traffic on Al Wasl Road and Jumeirah Beach Road is heavy on weekday mornings during term, so leave earlier for a morning flight.

Landmarks along the coast

The Jumeirah Mosque, at the northern end, welcomes visitors on guided tours. Further south come La Mer's beachfront, the cafés of Al Wasl Road, Kite Beach and Sunset Beach, with the Burj Al Arab and Madinat Jumeirah closing the view. For any of these, choose the place by name in the address search so the chauffeur uses its own drop-off rather than the nearest side street.

Help

DXB to Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim: your questions

How long does the transfer take from DXB to Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim?
About 20 kilometres, usually 20 to 45 minutes depending on traffic and the time you land.
Is the Burj Al Arab in Jumeirah?
It stands just off the coast at Umm Suqeim 3, at the southern end of the area, next to Madinat Jumeirah. The hotel has closed for a long restoration, so check before planning a visit; its neighbours are open as usual.
My villa is on a small side street. Will the chauffeur find it?
Drop a pin on your gate when you book. The pin is where the car stops, which is far more precise than a street name in a villa area.
Is there a toll to Jumeirah from DXB?
Crossing the creek on one of its bridges, or driving along Sheikh Zayed Road, passes a Salik gate; Jumeirah Beach Road itself has none. Any crossing is passed through at cost.
Can I go from DXB straight to La Mer or Kite Beach?
Yes. Both have their own drop-off areas; choose them by name. With luggage, it is easier to go to your villa or hotel first and head to the beach afterwards.
Where will my driver meet me at Dubai International Airport?
Without Meet & Greet: the parking the airport designates for pre-booked cars, marked across the airport; it can move, so follow the markings. With Meet & Greet: inside the arrivals hall, with a name board.
