Dubai International Airport to Bur Dubai

Bur Dubai is the historic quarter on the western bank of Dubai Creek, facing Deira, with the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, the textile souk and the abra stations, a short drive from the airport across the water.

Across the creek from DXB

From the airport the chauffeur crosses Dubai Creek on Al Garhoud Bridge or Al Maktoum Bridge, then threads into Bur Dubai through Oud Metha, Karama or Al Mankhool. The distance is short and the drive is fifteen to twenty minutes at quiet times, but the creek crossings are among the busiest roads in the city at rush hour.

Both bridges have Salik gates; the crossing is passed through at cost on your receipt.

Old streets and new waterfronts

Around Al Fahidi and the Bur Dubai souk the lanes are narrow and partly pedestrian, so cars stop at the nearest open road. Al Seef, the waterfront development along the creek, has its own drop-off points and hotels, including Al Seef Heritage Hotel Dubai. Further in, Al Mankhool and Al Raffa are dense with apartment buildings and mid-size hotels on similar-looking streets, where choosing the exact building in the address search matters.

From Bur Dubai to your flight

The return crosses the creek again, so the time depends on the bridges. Early morning and late evening are easy; mid-morning and the evening rush are not. Add your flight number so the booking can warn you if the pickup leaves too little time.

Karama, Zabeel and the Dubai Frame

Bur Dubai runs into Al Karama and Oud Metha, and Zabeel Park with the Dubai Frame is a few minutes away. Al Fahidi Fort, home of the Dubai Museum, has been closed for redevelopment, so check before planning a visit. Many families and long-stay visitors base themselves in this part of the city for its apartments and its short drive to the airport.

DXB to Bur Dubai: your questions

How long does the transfer take from DXB to Bur Dubai?
About 10 kilometres, usually 15 to 30 minutes depending on traffic and the time you land.
Can the chauffeur drop me at the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood?
Yes, at the nearest road a car can use. The heritage lanes themselves are for walking.
Is Bur Dubai the same as Al Karama?
Karama is a neighbouring district, south of Al Mankhool. They are often grouped together; give your exact address so the drop-off is right.
Is the abra crossing faster than driving to Deira?
For a walk between the souks, the abra across the creek is quick. With luggage from the airport, the car to your door is the practical choice.
Will the chauffeur stop at an abra station?
Yes, at the nearest road to the abra station you choose, from where you can cross the creek on foot to the Deira souks.
Is Al Seef a good drop-off for the old town?
Yes. Al Seef runs along the creek next to the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, and its drop-off points are easier for cars than the narrow lanes behind it.
Where will my driver meet me at Dubai International Airport?
Without Meet & Greet: the parking the airport designates for pre-booked cars, marked across the airport; it can move, so follow the markings. With Meet & Greet: inside the arrivals hall, with a name board.
