The short answer

Book as soon as your flights are confirmed. drivoo follows the flight number on your booking and times the pickup from the actual landing, so booking early never ties you to a timetable that later changes. Your fare is fixed when you book, and a two-minute check the night before covers the rest.

The short answer: as soon as your flights are known

The best time to book a UAE airport pickup is as soon as your flights are confirmed. A drivoo pickup is planned around your flight rather than a fixed clock: we follow the flight number on your booking and time the pickup from its actual landing, so booking early never ties you to a timetable that later changes. What booking early does is settle everything else before you travel. Your fare is fixed when you book, one amount that you see before you confirm, so demand on the day does not change it. The class, a child seat and Meet & Greet, where your airport offers it, are chosen calmly at home rather than at the end of a long flight, and the car is arranged before you take off.

Booking weeks or days ahead

Bookings open a set number of days ahead, decided by drivoo. If you choose a date beyond that window, the booking page tells you and offers the latest time it can take; within it, book whenever your plans are firm. Booking early matters most when the trip carries on past the airport. A pickup at Dubai International can take you to a hotel in Downtown Dubai, a home in Sharjah or a meeting in Abu Dhabi in the same car, with the cross-emirate surcharge already inside the fixed fare. Families travelling with luggage, groups who need a drivoo Van and travellers landing late at night all gain from having the car arranged before they fly. When you are ready, book an airport transfer in the UAE with your flight number, or go straight to Dubai Airport (DXB) transfers.

The night before: a two-minute check

If you booked weeks ago, take a moment the evening before you fly. Check that the flight number on your booking matches your ticket, airline code included, written like EK 008. Then check the date. The booking follows the flight that lands at your airport on the date you gave, in UAE time, so use the day you land in the UAE, not the day you take off, which can differ on an overnight flight. Make sure the drop-off is the exact place you are going, picked from the address suggestions or pinned on the map, and that your passengers and bags still match. If your airline has moved you to a different flight, contact our team straight away: the booking follows the flight number it holds. Before the pickup you receive your chauffeur's details, then a message when they are on the way and another when they have arrived.

From the plane, or after you land

Plans change, and a booking made late still works. If your flight has Wi-Fi, you can book from your seat, as long as your landing is further away than the minimum notice drivoo sets for airport pickups. If it is too close, the booking page says so and offers the earliest pickup it can take. A pickup booked in the air is followed and timed to your actual landing in the same way as one booked weeks before. If you have already landed without a booking, the booking page can also arrange a ride now. A ride now goes to a chauffeur as soon as you book, rather than being timed to a flight, and it is free to cancel until a chauffeur accepts it, and for a short time after. Booking before you fly is still the calmer choice, because your chauffeur is expecting you before you reach the arrivals hall.

What to have ready

A booking takes a few minutes with these to hand. First, your flight number and the date you land: both are required for an airport pickup, and the booking asks whether the flight is arriving or departing, suggesting arriving for a pickup. Your terminal is on your ticket or in your airline's app, and the flight number sets the pickup for the right one. Next, your party: enter every passenger and your large and small bags, strollers and golf bags too, and the booking offers only the classes, drivoo Go, drivoo Black or drivoo Van, with a car that takes them. Our guides to choosing a vehicle class and child seats in UAE cars help here. Then the extras: a child seat for a young child, and Meet & Greet where your airport offers it, its price shown in your fixed fare before you confirm. Finally, a note for anything your chauffeur should know.

Where your chauffeur will be waiting

Without Meet & Greet, your chauffeur waits at the parking the airport sets aside for pre-booked cars, signposted across the terminal. The airport and transport authorities move these spaces from time to time to keep the traffic moving, so follow the signs on the day rather than a spot someone described to you. With Meet & Greet, your chauffeur waits inside the arrivals hall with a name board, helps with your bags and walks with you to the car. Our page on Meet & Greet at Dubai Airport and other UAE airports explains what it covers and where it is offered, and our DXB terminal guide walks through Dubai International's three terminals.

Changing or cancelling your booking

A booking can be changed up to a cut-off before pickup set by drivoo; after that, contact our team. Cancellation is free up to a set time before pickup, which depends on the type of booking and is shown when you book. After that, the cancellation fee for the ride type applies. If your airline cancels your flight, your booking is not cancelled automatically: we alert you and our operations team. The usual cancellation terms still apply when you cancel because of the airline, so cancel or rebook as soon as you know rather than waiting until the last moment. If drivoo or your chauffeur cancels, you are never charged, and anything you paid up front is refunded. The full terms are in our cancellation and refund policy.

When your flight is early, late or diverted

Because the pickup follows your flight, most timing changes are handled for you. Your pickup is set at the flight's expected landing plus the time drivoo allows for your terminal and service, and it moves on its own when the airline's estimate changes. A late flight moves the pickup with it, and your free waiting counts from the actual landing, so you don't pay for the delay, up to a limit set by drivoo. Beyond that limit, waiting is charged at the airport rate, and you are told when charges start. An early landing moves the pickup earlier only if your chauffeur can make it; otherwise the booked time stands, and free waiting still counts from when you actually landed. If your flight is diverted to another airport, we contact you and either re-price the ride with your agreement or cancel it free.

Putting it together

The timing comes down to a few steps. As soon as your flights are confirmed, book with your flight number, your party and your bags, and choose your extras. The night before, check that the flight number and date still match your ticket. On the day, fly: the flight is followed and the pickup is timed to your landing. After passport control and baggage reclaim, follow the signs to the parking for pre-booked cars, or look for your name in the arrivals hall if you added Meet & Greet. If you are arranging a pickup for a visitor, note that the website books for the signed-in rider: a hotel or company partner can book for a guest, or our team can take the booking on +971 52 111 0154. And if your first day is a run of meetings rather than one drive, read our guide to an hourly driver for a day of meetings.
