Al Maktoum International Airport to Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR)

For a beach stay at JBR, Al Maktoum International is a short airport run: the beachfront towers are at the near end of the city from Dubai South, about half an hour away when the roads are clear.

From Dubai South to the beach

The chauffeur takes Sheikh Zayed Road north past Jebel Ali, leaves at the Marina, and drops down to the beach road behind The Walk. In the evening or on a sunny weekend, the slowest part of the trip is the last stretch inside JBR, where the single beach road is busy with visitors.

Which entrance at JBR

JBR's hotels and residential towers stand in a row, and some open onto the beach road while others face the road behind. Choose the hotel or tower by name, for example Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach, Rixos Premium Dubai or Hilton Dubai Jumeirah, so the chauffeur stops at the right forecourt. If you are staying on Bluewaters Island, offshore from JBR, give that address instead: it has its own bridge from Sheikh Zayed Road.

Going back to DWC

The return heads south, away from the morning rush into the city, so a JBR to DWC drive is often quicker in the morning than the trip in. Allow a margin for getting out of JBR itself, especially at weekends.

A beach stay without a car

Once you are at JBR you may barely need a car: The Walk, the beach, Dubai Marina and the tram are all on foot. Book the airport transfers at each end of the trip, and for the odd day out, an hourly chauffeur or a ride in the drivoo app covers the rest.

Help

DWC to Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR): your questions

How long does the transfer take from DWC to Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR)?
About 25 kilometres, usually 25 to 45 minutes depending on traffic and the time you land.
How far is JBR from DWC?
About 30 kilometres by road, usually twenty-five to forty-five minutes.
Can the chauffeur drive onto The Walk?
No. The Walk is for pedestrians, so cars stop at the hotel or tower entrances beside it.
Is a pre-booked chauffeur better than a taxi from DWC for JBR?
It means a fixed fare known before you land and a chauffeur already expecting you, which is useful after a late holiday flight with children and bags.
Is DWC or DXB better for a JBR holiday?
By distance they are close, but the DWC drive runs along the city's edge and avoids central Dubai. Choose the airport your flight uses; the transfer is booked from there.
Can I go to Bluewaters Island from DWC?
Yes. Choose your Bluewaters hotel or residence; the island has its own road bridge from Sheikh Zayed Road, so the chauffeur takes that exit rather than JBR's.
Where will my driver meet me at Al Maktoum International Airport?
Without Meet & Greet: the parking the airport designates for pre-booked cars, marked across the airport; it can move, so follow the markings. With Meet & Greet: inside the arrivals hall, with a name board.
