A short drive with a long loop

The two sit side by side in Dubai South, but the airport's access roads loop out to the motorways before turning back towards Expo City, so the road distance is longer than the map suggests, around twenty kilometres. Expect twenty to thirty-five minutes, depending on the gate you are going to and event traffic.

This route runs on Dubai South's own roads and the inland motorways, with no Salik gate on the usual way.

Events, gates and the Dubai Exhibition Centre

Expo City hosts large exhibitions and conferences at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, alongside Al Wasl Plaza, the Terra and Alif pavilions, offices and homes. On a big event day, the gate you are dropped at decides how far you walk. Choose the hall or gate in the address search, or drop a pin on it, and the chauffeur takes you to that entrance.

Flying in for an event

If you are flying in for a conference, book the arrival transfer with your flight number and, if you can, stay nearby: hotels and serviced apartments around Expo City and Dubai South keep the daily trips short. For the flight home, the drive back to DWC is one of the shortest airport runs in Dubai.

Into the city after the event

Expo City is linked to the rest of Dubai by the Expo 2020 station at the end of the Red Line, which is handy for evenings in the Marina or Downtown during a long conference. For the airport run with luggage, though, a car door to door is simpler, and from Expo City the drive back to DWC is short in almost any traffic.

DWC to Expo City Dubai: your questions

How long does the transfer take from DWC to Expo City Dubai?
About 10 kilometres, usually 20 to 35 minutes depending on traffic and the time you land.
Is DWC the closest airport to Expo City Dubai?
Yes. Al Maktoum International is next to it; Dubai International is about 50 kilometres away across the city.
Can the chauffeur drop me at a specific exhibition hall?
Choose the hall or gate in the address search or with a pin. During big events some roads close, and the chauffeur uses the nearest open drop-off.
Can I book the return to DWC for the end of the last event day?
Yes, as an airport drop-off with your departure flight number. Event traffic at closing time can be heavy, so leave a margin.
How do I get from Expo City to the Marina in the evening?
By car it is usually twenty-five to forty minutes along Sheikh Zayed Road, or you can take the Red Line from the Expo 2020 station.
Where will my driver meet me at Al Maktoum International Airport?
Without Meet & Greet: the parking the airport designates for pre-booked cars, marked across the airport; it can move, so follow the markings. With Meet & Greet: inside the arrivals hall, with a name board.
