Sharjah to Dubai by private chauffeur

Sharjah to Dubai is the daily crossing for many people who live in one emirate and work, fly or meet friends in the other.

The route

Most trips from Sharjah to Dubai use Al Ittihad Road or Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, with Emirates Road further inland. From Al Nahda or Al Taawun to Deira it is only a short drive; from Al Majaz or University City to Downtown Dubai or Dubai Marina it is 30 to 50 kilometres. The morning rush into Dubai is the slowest time, and a trip that takes half an hour at midday can take more than an hour before work.

Why people book a chauffeur for this trip

For many people this is the daily commute, and a booked car means no driving in stop-start traffic and no parking to pay for at the other end. Others travel for a flight from Dubai International, a meeting in DIFC, a hospital appointment or a dinner in Dubai. A chauffeur collects you at the door at the time you choose, and you can work, call or rest on the way.

Tolls and fares

Sharjah has no toll gates. On the Dubai side, Al Ittihad Road passes the Al Mamzar Salik gates, and other gates on Sheikh Zayed Road or Al Khail Road may be on your route, depending on where you are going. Tolls pass through at cost, itemised on your receipt. You see one fixed fare before you book.

Exhibitions at the Trade Centre and Expo City

Trade shows bring many riders from Sharjah into Dubai, and the venue now matters more than it used to. Dubai World Trade Centre sits on Sheikh Zayed Road in the city centre, while the Dubai Exhibition Centre is at Expo City Dubai in the south of the emirate, a much longer drive from Sharjah. Some of the largest shows now use both, one for the conference days and the other for the exhibition, so check the venue on your badge for each day and enter it as your destination.

Show days begin at the slowest time on this route, the morning rush into Dubai, and the extra distance to Expo City keeps you in that traffic for longer, so book each day’s ride ahead and allow more time for Expo City than for the Trade Centre. The way home is the mirror image: traffic towards Sharjah is heaviest at the evening peak. Book the ride back from Dubai to Sharjah as its own booking, for a time after your last meeting, and if the show runs over several days, book each morning and each evening as separate rides.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the drive from Sharjah to Dubai?
Around half an hour between the nearest districts when roads are clear, and an hour or more in the morning rush towards Dubai.
Can you take me from Sharjah to Dubai International for a flight?
Yes. Book a ride to your terminal, and leave enough time for check-in and the traffic into Dubai.
Do I pay Salik from Sharjah to Dubai?
Only for gates crossed in Dubai, such as the Al Mamzar gates on Al Ittihad Road. Each crossing passes through at cost and is itemised on your receipt.
Can I book a ride every morning?
Book each ride ahead for the time you need to leave. Each is quoted and paid on its own, and you get a message when your chauffeur is assigned.
Can you pick me up at Sharjah Airport and drive me to Dubai?
Yes. Book an airport pickup with your flight number and your Dubai address as the destination; your chauffeur follows the flight.
Can I add a child seat?
Yes. Add a child seat when you book; the booking shows whether a car in your class has one, and we confirm it before your ride.
Can you take me from Sharjah to an exhibition at Expo City Dubai?
Yes. Enter the Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City Dubai as your destination. It is in the south of Dubai, much further from Sharjah than the Trade Centre, so leave more time, especially in the morning rush.
My show uses two venues. Which one do I book?
Book the venue on your badge for each day. A show with its conference at Dubai World Trade Centre and its exhibition at Expo City Dubai needs a different destination on different days.
